When you are here – you feel like family. Hartwood’s founder wanted to make wine that everyone could enjoy in a relaxed and unpretentious setting. The winery treats everyone who visits to a generous tasting experience – tasting a wide-variety of wines (10+) and sharing generous information on the grapes and the wine making process.
Hartwood Winery was one of the original wineries that helped start the Virginia Wine Industry more than 30 years ago. IF you are a fan of the “real deal” you will soak in the rural setting, and the lack of pretense – and the GREAT WINE Hartwood offers.
Hartwood is kid friendly and we welcome furry-friends. We have some “old fashioned” toys and Hartwood has a “kennel club” and awards every visiting puppy with an official 1st Place Blue Ribbon – no losers at Hartwood!
Relax and unplug on our porch, deck, cozy tasting room, or picnic tables. We don’t rush you through the tasting or your visit. Bring your own snacks and enjoy the afternoon with us.
The winery is named after the community in which it is located. “Hart” is the Old English word for deer, this area is long known for its heavy deer population, and in turn, the deer has become the winery’s logo. The vineyards, which have been producing great Virginia wine, surround you. Taste the quality of the established vines and the wine-making skills of Hartwood’s founder, James Livingston.
Hartwood’s wines include Chardonnay, Seyval, Hartwood Rose, Rappahannock White, DeWeese White, Rappahannock Red, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the newest offering Ravenwood – a delicious port-styled wine.
Hartwood Winery’s wines are ONLY available at the winery and at festival events in the Fredericksburg/Stafford area. Tastings are generous. Hartwood Winery is open 11:00 am – 5:00 pm Wed.-Fri. and 11:00 am – 6:00 pm Sat.-Sun.
