Memorial Day event to Honor Stafford Veterans
May 27 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
As part of the Stafford County Cemetery Committee‘s ongoing mission to recognize US Veterans buried in Stafford County’s family cemeteries, we are proud to announce that this year, we will be having a Service of Remembrance for the Veterans interred at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. which was organized in 1868, after the civil war, when former slaves and free Blacks separated from the White Oak Primitive Baptist Church to start a church of their own.
This event is free & open to the public, with presentation of the colors & National Anthem by the Quantico Young Marines, words of prayer given by the Rev. Gary Williams and Rev. Ronald R. Scites Jr., and SCCC Chair, Anita Dodd will speak of the veterans and their lives before & after the war in Stafford and place a wreath in honor of the military buried there. Church Historian, Frank White will share with us the story of their service, the church choir will fill the air with praise, and surviving family members will also be in attendance.
