It's March Madness Special Olympics Virginia style! Don't miss a moment of our annual Basketball Championships in Stafford. The event tips off with Opening Ceremony at Colonial Forge High School, including a half-time show, contests and cool prizes, fan giveaways and the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron. On Saturday there will be skills, half court, and full-court action all day. Special thanks to Stafford Tourism for their support of this event!

Gari Melchers Home & Studio partners with the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, to offer a small, welcoming program that combines sensory-rich and interactive guided discussions in Gari Melchers’ studio with a related art-making experience afterwards. Beeping Egg Hunt

Since 2011, the Education Department has invited visually impaired or blind children and their families to participate in a Beeping Egg Hunt. This annual event is reminiscent of the Easter parties Corinne Melchers, with her husband’s encouragement, would host for local children each year at Belmont, complete with Punch and Judy shows, egg rolls, fanciful invitations, and plenty of favors. The specially designed plastic eggs were made and donated by volunteers of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators.…

The public is invited to tour the house, studio and galleries of the famous American painter Gari Melchers (1860-1932). Stroll the restored gardens and woodland trails, visit the Fannie Roots House on the property to hear about the latest restoration efforts between 1 and 3 PM, join a Preschool Palette class in the kitchen classroom between 1 PM and 4 PM, and explore the museum shop. For only two nights in 2020, Belmont's grounds will be open after hours for photographers to catch that "golden hour" with their clients.  All interested photographers must reserve their spot by May 1.  On the day of the event, photographers must pay the $50 per client session photography fee upon arrival.  Spots will be limited, so register fast.
