Everyone loves a day trip to Stafford, even man’s best friend! Parks and restaurants love for you and your furry friend to visit as well as explore. Take some time in Stafford to enjoy the different opportunities for you and your pup.
What To Do
Spend your morning on a two-mile hike at Duff McDuff Green Park where your dog can enjoy the nature and fresh air. Walk past the river overlook and take in the scenery. Then, let your little friend run off leash at the Duff’s Dog Park while you sit back and relax. With two fenced in areas, one for smaller dogs and the other for larger dogs, all having different toys and agility obstacles, your four-legged friend will have hours of fun and be able to socialize with other dogs from the community. Head to the fenced in field in the back of the park and play fetch or let your pet get the zoomies out. This field backs up to the Rappahannock River and is the perfect spot for some off-leash play.
Most of our local breweries and wineries are pet friendly and would love for your dog to tag along. Find LOVE signs at each brewery and winery to snap the perfect picture of your precious pooch. Make sure to follow all rules about animals to make sure everyone can be accommodated and safe.
Enjoy one of our Disc Golf courses with your dog through Curtis Memorial Park or John Lee Pratt Park. Have your friend join you on their leash while you play the course.
Take a hike at Widewater State Park trails around the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers while your dog joins you in the open air. Bring your kayaks and a snack for you and your pup and go for a paddle on the lake after your hike. You can rent paddleboards or kayaks from the visitor’s center (when available).
Stop in to Dog Krazy in North Stafford to purchase toys, homemade treats, and supplies for your furry friend.
Grab lunch on the patio of one of the community’s pet friendly restaurants.
